Viennese coffee house culture

Meeting in cafés have become part of the Viennese culture, where prominent writers used to be seen together exchanging ideas with contemporaries and some even find it a comfortable place to write their thoughts, thus the terms ‘coffee house literature’ and ‘coffee house poets’. Coffee is one beverage most people consume to stimulate their minds.

While having a day with a friend in Vienna, he invited me for a cup of coffee. I guess he wanted me to try the culture of a Viennese café. Stepping inside, we were greeted with an atmosphere that was a homey, with people comfortably sipping their cups and conversing with friends while some were busy reading the newspaper. I was served with coffee topped with white creamy foam, its flavor was not so strong and not too sweet, it was just right for my taste.

These days, there are numerous coffee flavors and blends and equipments just to satisfy a coffee lover’s cravings at home. While most are content with instant coffee, some prefer their coffee brewed, thus coffee makers are one of their kitchen essentials. Shown below is the Keurig Elite B40, one of the more affordable models from Keurig Coffee Makers.

Whether it’s Mocha nut fudge, Lemon Zinger, Hazelnut cream and other gourmet coffee flavors, those who like their coffee brewed can make their own Viennese coffee house culture at home.
