Having worked for a well known timeshare exchange company some years ago, we wanted a timeshare. But going to a couple well known hotel chain time share sales pitches put us off. Good luck with whatever you do.

My dad is constantly talking about buying a Florida vacation home. He likes the Punta Gorda area (I do too) so maybe one day….

We’re discussing about renting a vacation home, not owning a vacation home (sorry for confusing you on that)… yup, timeshare could be a good option than owning a vacation home…or it really depends on the property you’re buying.

I think that if you can’t quite afford a vacation home or you think the climate is too volatile then timeshare is the ideal option.

For nature and wildlife lovers, if I may add, if in Miami, a visit to Everglades National Park would be great too. It is a great place to observe unique flora and fauna and it is so rich with wildlife.

There are so many places where you can find your vacation rental home. But always when you rent from the owner, make sure it is real. Vacation rentals by owner (VRBO) is a great way to save money and stay in great conditions. However, to avoid renting from someone who doesn’t exist do this – never ever take western union or money gram. Talk to your owner on the phone! Ask all the questions you wonder about. Something like – is this condo really right on the beach – will save you from discovering it was a block away (steps to the beach).
And yes – ones in Florida, come to Keys – this is one of the best (and most affordable) places to snorkel and dive.

That’s a good question… a timeshare property is something you own (though shared with other owners) so it’s an investment on your part (which is good) and you can exchange your vacation with other resorts, give your usage time as a gift or even sell it in the future, while a vacation home is just a property you’re renting, which means you don’t have ownership rights to it. A timeshare property can also be rented out as a vacation home should the owner decide to put up his own rental program.

Which one works best for you? It actually depends on your available finances and preferences. For instance, with a timeshare property, the initial investment is considerably huge. If one doesn’t have the resources for this, renting a vacation home for an immediate holiday is a good option.

This is the first time I hear about Vacation home. I’m planning to by a Timeshare in Florida. Do you think it is a good idea to get a timeshare place or rent Vacation home?
