Mambukal Resort: Top tourist destination in Negros Occidental

Mambukal Mountain resort

Situated at the foot of Mt. Kanlaon, an active volcano, is Mambukal Resort, one of Negros Occidental’s top tourist destinations known for its hot sulfur springs, rushing waterfalls and streams amidst a refreshing backdrop of thick trees and sloping terrain.

This mountain resort offers varied accommodation for camping and overnight stay as well as outdoor recreation such as wall climbing or boating. The adventurous can trek up a series of seven waterfalls which could be a challenge to those who are not comfortable with heights and climbing up steep steps.

Resort guests can bring their own food, drinks and utensils or simply go there unprepared since the resort has dining facilities with food stalls serving seafood and native dishes. Even Enteng’s of Sagay have a stall there.

Just recently, we had guests from Iligan who wanted to visit this mountain resort, and so we took them there though we were quite unprepared. Good thing the food we ordered from one of the resorts’ food stalls were yummy. We had grilled stuffed squid, fish and pork for lunch in one of the small picnic huts by the stream. It would have been nice to have an overnight stay but we had to go home since we will be leaving for Punta Bulata white beach resort early the next day.

I will be posting the rates for gate entrance, accommodation and other amenities for Mambukal Resort on my next post.

I love Mambukal, I miss swimming at the 6th or 7th falls, where there is like a big pool ( parang kawa), you took great pictures, i like most the hot spring pic.

Betchai: Yeahhh… the pool at the 6th falls was so inviting, we soaked ourselves in the icy cold waters and had fun having our backs massaged as we sat under the big rocks where the strong current was rushing down. 😀

Hi Deeh! Trekking up to the 7th falls really depends on one’s physical stamina. How long it takes also depends on you, but approximately an hour or more. You can hike with your mom and dad up to the 3rd falls, and if they feel they can’t go on to the next, then they can just go back, and you can continue on your own. You can hire a guide for the trek, there are little boys willing to help you out for a small tip, or you can ask a professional guide from the admin. If your dad and mom are not physically up to the challenge, then a hike to the 3rd falls would be fine for them. The rest of the trek involves steep terrain and the rocks are a bit slippery. There are other things to do in Mambukal – the dipping pool is highly recommended and also boating in the lagoon.

Mambucal is still very veautiful just as it was in 1935 when I resided in Mambucal Spring Summer Resort. I visisted Sabbaday Falls in Kamkamagus, New Hampshire and Mbucal is comparable to the waterfalls of the Granite State. Please visit also http://www.dare2liveonline.com.

Hi Ann, take a Ceres bus – Dumaguete to Bacolod route. When you arrive at the south terminal in Bacolod, just ask instructions from the bus conductor where to ride the minibus going to Mambukal in Murcia. Sorry, I am not that familiar with the minibus terminal for Mambukal, but you can ask around, I’m sure you’ll get help easily as it is a popular destination.

Hi Rolly, you can take a Cebu-Bacolod Ceres Liner trip via Don Salvador Benedicto, tell the conductor you will go to Mambukal, and you need to go down in Murcia, where Mambukal is located. From Murcia town-proper, you can ride a mini-bus going to Mambukal.
