Explore Lake Tahoe for a great California vacation

California is one great place for a vacation, and Lake Tahoe could be one of the many reasons for being so. Even if for once in a lifetime, you can visit the breathtaking scenery and enjoy the invigorating atmosphere it offers. Especially for the sports-loving there are so many outdoor activities to enjoy, but even for a simple visitor who just wants to relax from work for a couple of days, just walking around could be very relaxing.

Why Lake Tahoe?

Situated between Nevada and California, Lake Tahoe is shared by these two states, with two-thirds belonging to California and one-third to Nevada. Surrounded by extremely large mountainous peaks, it is positioned between two known ranges: the Sierra Nevada and the Carson Range. Aside from the scenic view it offers, its being a huge lake is one of its attractions; it is considered as one of the biggest in the world. You will not easily forget but totally be mesmerized by the beautiful blue waters of Lake Tahoe, acknowledged as the second deepest lake in the US.

Fishing

One activity loved most by those who spend vacation in the place is fishing, as the lake abounds in two fishes: the trout and the salmon. The Rainbow Trout could be one’s favorite as this could be easier to catch in the deeper waters than the other kind, the Mackinaw. For the sports-loving, the Kokanee Salmon is more challenging and a bit difficult to catch. For most beginners though they prefer just fishing near the shore, and this is understandable. However, this needs a permit, and one should always be ready with his California fishing license.

Outdoor recreation and sports

To enjoy the great outdoors, sports activities and extreme adventures are available, most especially during summer. Among them are camping, water sports, rock climbing, and golfing, but for the ordinary vacationers, biking and hiking are also enjoyed.

Sunbathing and swimming are popular activities especially for the beach-lovers. There’s even a nude beach available (warning: only for eighteen years old and above). But even for the quiet-loving ones, just view-watching could be enjoyed as the surroundings are really awe-inspiring and magnificent! It caters to the soul, and you cannot but appreciate and thank Creation.

For those who like going for walks or for a short hike, be appropriately dressed up, with consideration of Lake Tahoe weather which can abruptly change. This also requires a special permit, so better get it ahead of time to see the wonders the wilderness and the forests offer. You will appreciate more the blessings of Nature with which it is filled.

Winter activities

Visiting California on the cold winter also offers many fun activities. One can do skiing either going downhill or cross-country. Ice skating, or snowmobile skating, can also be enjoyed. The beginners and the pros have ski slopes to choose which one is appropriate for them. Among ski areas in the entire United States, Lake Tahoe can pride itself as having many ski resorts around. This is precisely the reason why tourists abound in the place during the winter season.

Lake Tahoe offers varied accommodations which are comfortable. Aside from luxury hotels, there are also homes for rent for the more simple and budget-conscious travelers. Condos are an option; it’s up for one to choose. Almost all places in Lake Tahoe offer these, so one can also choose his location.

When vacationing in California, consider Lake Tahoe as your next destination as it offers many holiday options for its guests. Be it for an outdoor fun and adventure or for night-life enjoyment like going to concerts and live bands or casino-hopping, or just for viewing beautiful sceneries and tourist sites, it will surely make your holidays great and enjoyable!

I think some of my relatives in the US live near Lake Tahoe. I hope someday I can visit them and go to the lake. Definitely looks like a fun place to go.
