Gatwick Airport is the second largest airport in London and the second busiest airport in the United Kingdom. It is also the busiest single runway airport in the world. The airport is situated in Crawley, south of London. If you have a lay over at the airport and are waiting for your flight from Gatwick to take off, there are many ways that you can kill time.

The airport has so many shopping opportunities that you will think you are at an actual shopping mall. There is something for everyone, as the airport has shops for children, fashion accessories or even duty free shops. You might need to find souvenirs to take to your friends or family members. Before going through security, you can shop at stores, such as Boots, Impulse or The Body Shop. Whatever you need, you can find at Gatwick Airport. You can actually spend hours shopping in the airport.

The UK is well-known for their tabloids, so you might want to visit a newsstand and buy a bestseller or a magazine. You can normally find good deals on books at the airport.

If you are hungry, there are numerous restaurants and bars at the airport. Whether you need breakfast, lunch or dinner, you will find the type of food that you need. If you want fast food, there is a McDonalds, Burger King or Pizza Express, or you can eat at Garfunkel’s, which is open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner. Other favorites at the airport include Giraffe or Wetherspoon’s Red Lion. Lines at the restaurants can be long during lunch and dinner, so make sure you allow yourself time to wait.

If you need a drink, there are many pubs and bars offered at the airport. Bridge Bar and eating house has a modern, friendly atmosphere with great food. The Flying Horse is another venue that provides an excellent choice of wines and beers. You can just relax and enjoy the atmosphere while waiting for your flight. Most restaurants offer screens with updated flight information.

If you need currency exchange, you can make it at the airport. You can order your currency and collect it at the airport. There are more than 50 currencies available, and there is a 0 percent commission.

If you have T- Mobile, The Cloud Network or BT OpenZone, internet access is available. It is very simple to use, as all you need to do is launch your browser and choose the wireless network of your choice. There are also many other internet access areas where you can pay a small fee to gain access. You can then check your e-mail or look up anything else that is important.

There are also dialing announcements on religious activities and events that occur at the airport. There is a chapel on site that provides daily meetings for different religions.

If you are just worn out, the airport offers sleeping chairs in the departure lounges. You might want to bring something soft to lay your head on, but you will be comfortable in these soft chairs.

Waiting at the airport does not have to be boring. There are many things at Gatwick Airport to keep you entertained until your flight is ready for departure.

    The best way to while away your time in an transportation location in London is to read. Checking into the airport bookstore and reading the magazines,tabloids and have a peak inside a romantic novel can give you a deluge of excitement and eye candy. Plus, checking out these little book stores is a great way to gain insight into a country’s culture. UK has great magazines- Tatler and Red are interesting and it’s great to see the British woman’s point of view. Buy a Cadbury chocolate while your at. Why not!
