Carrying fragile items during trips

With our recent trip from Manila, Mom and I brought along with us some fragile items – few small appliances and a big-sized hot and cold water dispenser which she won in a raffle draw at the recent SM Sucat 3-day sale. Good thing, the guys at the condo helped us with packing up the appliance items properly in a box. At the Cebu Pacific check-in counter, we informed the staff that there were fragile items inside so it would be properly labeled. I’m glad they were not damaged during the flight and arrived here safe and sound.

When transporting fragile items, it’s important to take the necessary precautions, not just with appliances but more so with fine art pieces. I wanted to bring home from Manila some of my uncle’s paintings but I am quite wary of how to bring the heavily framed art pieces. Uncle suggested that we just bring the canvas with the frame without the glass cover on and just have it made here when we arrive.

Transporting art pieces can be tricky, this is why museums and art galleries employ fine art movers such as the Mind’s Eye in Boston for their art storage and transport. Whether it’s a priceless painting or a finely detailed sculpture, one has to make sure the artwork is not damaged during the trip. It is best not to take chances at all since any work of creativity is truly valuable.
