Switzerland tourist guide

Swiss alpsThere’s something magical about Europe. Having spent my last summer in this dreamy continent, I am still longing to go back. After all, there are still a lot of European destinations I’ve missed, and Switzerland is one of them. A place of remarkable landscapes, with its rich culture and interesting history as can be seen from its beautiful castles and picturesque villages, Switzerland is a haven for tourists seeking to discover Swiss “Pearls” of unique activities, learning its culture or engaging in recreation and adventure.

For tourists, Switzerland offers activities that would surely make their holiday fun and memorable. These unique Swiss “pearls” of activities can be learned more at MySwitzerland.com, and personally the top five favorite Swiss activities I would like to experience most are the following:

1. Medieval papermaking at Basel
papiermacher
I love books and am interested to be visiting Basel’s old paper mill, learning about the traditional methods of papermaking and production of books.

2. Gathering herbs at Champéry
plantes
For nature lovers like me, it would be fun being in the midst of the flowering meadows above Champéry during summer, especially with a mountain guide touring you around.

3. Exploring Geneva by boat
rafting
Just looking at the photo above would make one excited about a tour along the river Arve which passes through a scenic countryside and then flows into the Rhône in the middle of Geneva with an attractive view of houses by the sides.

4. Grandstand view at Pilatus/Kriens
pilatus
Known as the steepest cog railway in the world, it would be a thrilling ride up Mt. Pilatus and getting a nice overlooking view of the mountains below.

5. A day in the vineyards at Mendrisiotto
wein
Experiencing wine harvest in autumn and helping with the vendemmia or grape harvest and joining the communal lunch is just one way of immersing in the culture of the Swiss people.

There are still more things to do for tourists in Switzerland such as visiting historical castles and sites, or going to dinner on a horse-drawn coach. These activities make the Swiss experience unique and memorable. More information about Switzerland’s history, culture, destinations, accommodations, adventure and sports, shopping and other tourist activities can be browsed over at MySwitzerland.com, a comprehensive online travel guide to the Swiss experience.
