What’s your reason for travel?

These are some of the ‘whys’:

Holiday, tour or vacation: This is the most common reason for travel bugs, yeah?

Participate in a meeting, seminar or convention: I’ve recently chatted with an elderly lady while waiting for my turn at the Czech Embassy. She told me she regularly travels to Prague to attend their medical association’s convention which is always hosted in this city. My mom also traveled all the way to Goa in India for a business convention.

Visit a relative or friend: This would be my reason in going to Prague (and of course to visit some tourist attractions too!).

Attend reunion: We had a grand family reunion years ago which got us to Boracay! Sigh… I miss the white sand and cool blue waters.

Attend burial: This is usually an urgent trip and a sad one too.

Work: Some are just lucky enough to be able to travel to other places, sponsored by their company and being billeted in 5-star hotels for work’s sake. My previous work involved visiting other provinces for the acceptance testing of telecom equipment. I was blessed to have traveled to Europe when I attended a three-week training by a telecommunications provider. Work-related travel is demanding yet fun.

Job-hunting: Some people would go to other countries and apply for work there, hoping that they will be hired and be issued a work visa before their last day of stay.

Watch a show or concert: Yup, music lovers would never mind traveling to another city or country just to watch their fave artists live on stage. The energy, excitement and fun of being there can’t be compared with watching the show on a DVD or TV.

…and the list goes on! How about you, what are some of your usual reasons for travel?

  1. My Bug Life

I travel for holidays mostly and I would not like to travel around for work…somehow, it is different and I don’t seem to enjoy when it’s for work.
